These awards are instituted jointly by Help International Welfare Trust and CSR Association of Pakistan, and means to recognize and appreciate the efforts made by corporations within scope of Corporate Social Responsibility.
Pak Elektron Limited (PEL) has been awarded for the second time with ‘4th CSR National Excellence Award 2009’ for best efforts within the multi-dimensional scope of CSR and a special award for ‘Best Information Material On CSR’. The Award was presented to Pak Elektron Limited in a ceremony; held in Karachi on 21st January, 2010 at Avari Hotel & Towers, Karachi. Mr. Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq (Provincial Minister Education and Literacy), Mr. Sheikh Muhammad Afzal Alias (Provincial Minister for Environment & Alternate Energy Government of Sindh) and Mr. Khawaja Izhar Ul Hassan (Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh) honored the ceremony as chief guest. Mr. Yaqub Tabasum (Project Manager Transformer Unit-II) received the CSR National Excellence Award on behalf of PEL.

Pak Elektron Limited, Ferozepur Road, Lahore organized inaugural ceremony of their 132KV 40MVA Power Transformer and new products, related to Power Sector. Federal Minister for Water & Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister expressed his satisfaction over the inputs and local manufacturing of sophisticated electrical equipment by a Pakistani Company, like Pak Elektron Limited (PEL), due to which precious foreign exchange of the country is being saved. He indicated that the Government of Peoples Party always encourages local manufacturers and it’s the policy of their Government to provide maximum assistance. He further indicated that it was the Peoples Party government, who previously initiated installation of independent power producing units in the country which played a major role in saving the country from the menace of load shedding. Now again government is emphasizing on the installation of new power generating units, including Basha Dam. The minister expressed his satisfaction over good sign of developments, being provided by the local companies and also expressed his satisfaction/happiness over producing and exporting hi-tech electrical engineering products by the companies.
He also appreciated the assistance and support of foreign company like Ganz of Hungary, who is providing technical assistance to Pakistani company. The minister directed WAPDA, PEPCO, DISCOs, NTDC and other utilities to encourage local companies by providing them maximum assistance and to purchase the locally manufactured equipment.
Speaking on the occasion, the Managing Director of Pak Elektron Limited Mr. Haroon A. Khan and the Chairman of company Mian Nasim Saigol indicated that PEL is 50 years old company and is engaged in manufacturing of home appliances and electrical power equipment. They described in detail that PEL is providing employment of 7000 workers and their families directly and another 10,000 families indirectly through vendors and local suppliers. They explained that PEL is producing 40MVA transformer with the technical collaboration of Ganz thus completing the entire range of Power transformers in the country. They also highlighted that PEL has established a new factory on Ferozepur Road, where new generation transformers will be manufacture under technical license agreement of Pauwell Belgium. Mr. Haroon A. Khan said that PEL is also engaged in construction of 220KV and 132KV Grid Stations and other turn-key projects, including construction of new thermal and hydel power stations.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Zoltan Luspay Managing Director Ganz Hungary said that they are supporting the local company through technical know-how and transfer of technology.

Annual Environment Excellence Awards are instituted jointly by National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH), United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), Ministry of Environment, Government of Pakistan and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI). Annual Environment Excellence Awards are designed to recognize and promote the organizations which make an outstanding contribution to sustainable development. They aim to highlight policies, practices, processes and products from all sectors of business in the country, which help to achieve economic and social development without detriment to the environment and natural resources.
Pak Elektron Limited (PEL) was awarded 6th Annual Environment Excellence Award for best Health, Safety and Environment performance. The Award was presented to Pak Elektron Limited in a graceful ceremony; held on July 09, 2009 at Hotel Sheraton, Karachi. Mr. Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi, Federal Minister for Environment, honored the ceremony by as chief guest whereas Mr. Askri Taqvi, Minister for Environment, Sindh presided over. Javed jabber (Global Vice President IUCN), Dr. Kaiser Waheed (Chairman NFEH) and Naeem Qureshi (President NFEH) were also present on the occasion. Mr. Yaqub Tabasum (Project Manager Unit-II) received the Environment Excellence Award on behalf of PEL.
